Dog - bite wound
Testimony by: Dr. Attuali Francesco, Pratelli-Attuali Veterinary Clinic, Marina di Pisa
Animal category: pets (‘’Striscia’’, dog, female, spayed, 10/12 years old)
Pathology category: traumatic injury
Description: dog is brought urgently for bite wounds. The subject presents with about 70/80% of the skin cleaved. Wounds are more or less deep and wide with involvement of multiple planes and much loss of substance. Immediate emergency surgery is performed to clean and suture, inserting numerous drains. Double systemic antibiotic therapy, local intralesional antibiotic therapies, intravenous fluids and pain medications are prescribed. The next day the dog is alert and eating. Dressings with saline and emollient lotions/pomades are performed several times daily; local antibiotic therapy to try to minimize the inevitable risk of tissue necrosis. After 7 days, necrotic areas are surgically removed and Hypermix® medicated gauze and Hypermix® gel formulation is introduced, removing local lotions and antibiotics from therapy. Wounds are surgically treated daily, washed with saline, and massaged several times a day with Hypermix® gel, both on the wound and margins. Applications and massages are also done several times a day by the owners. Despite the granulation of the wounds, a third antibiotic is inserted about 2 weeks after the injury. The wounds continue to be medicated daily with the usual method: curettage, washing with saline, massage with Hypermix® gel, Hypermix® medicated gauze, for at least 2 months. About 2 months later, the wounds on the body are almost all healed, while the wound on the neck (the largest, about 20x20 cm) still remains open. Complete healing occurs after about 4 months, with complete regrowth of hair.
Product used: Hypermix® gel formulation and Hypermix® medicated gauze pads
Resolution time: about 4 months
HOW TO USE IT
Some animals have more than one laceration, especially in bite wounds. Traumatic bite wounds can easily be infested with fly larvae (miosis). All types of lesions, including infested ones, can be treated daily with HYPERMIX®
CLEANSE with saline or mild soap and water (Marseille) and remove the necrosis. The use of disinfectant is not recommended, as it is histolesive and retards the healing process. To avoid self-inflicted trauma, animals that show doggedness on injuries are advised to be fitted with a protective collar. At the discretion of the treating veterinarian, and depending on the severity and extent of wounds, administer systemic antibiotic therapy, according to practice.
APPLY HYPERMIX®in oily formulation during the acute phase: resolution of the inflammatory phase is achieved in 5±2 days.
Subsequently, in the granulation phase, HYPERMIX® in gel formulation is recommended to be used over the entire injured surface until complete resolution.
HYPERMIX® is undesirable to dipterans colonizing wounds, allowing them to be managed even during critical periods (summer season, poor sanitary conditions).

Hen - Bite wound
Testimony by: Dr. Marco Lapia, ENPA Trieste
Animal category: poultry
Pathology category: traumatic injury
Description: adult hen, loose in chicken coop and garden, attacked by two dogs causing bilateral penetrating wounds on her flanks and a severe wound on her back and tail. Taken immediately to the outpatient clinic, the animal had a severe wound with loss of tissue at the back, with exposure and tearing of the muscle strips. The wounds on the flanks, on the other hand, showed severe lacerations of skin and superficial muscle bands and penetrating wounds caused by teeth. The animal showed reluctance to ambulation of an algic nature and difficulty in maintaining an upright position. Injection pain therapy was started, continued orally by the owners, for 10 days.
Mode of application: Wound cleansing with saline, removal of nonviable tissue fragments, and partial wound closure on the flanks were performed. Therapy was started with Hypermix® Gel Formulation for the wound on the back and Hypermix® Spray Oil on the hips. The wound on the back was then covered with Hypermix® Medicated Gauze and changed daily. The therapy, carried out twice daily by the owners, also included cleaning the wounds with saline before application of the products. The hen was housed at home in a small outdoor enclosure covered with a tight mesh net. After 3 days, the wounds appeared in good condition and showed no signs of infection. The animal was still reluctant to move. On June 23, the tissue showed abundant granulation. The animal resumed breeding. On July 21, the wounds appeared perfectly healed. The hen raises and does not present any problems.
Resolution time: 46 days

Horse - Onychomycosis on thoroughbreds
Horse - Onychomycosis on thoroughbreds
Testimony by: Rosario Guida, teacher of Mascalcia 4th Level.
Animal Category: Equine (thoroughbred horse)
Disease category: Hoofworm (onychomycosis)
Description: Hoofworm indicates a hoof disease that causes the wall to become disconnected from the underlying tissues.
Product used: HYPERMIX® oily format
Mode of application:
- Remove the moth-eaten part with appropriate tools.
- Drill with appropriate conical tip until almost bleeding, all over the wall.
- Clean the sole especially on the white line from woodworm.
- Insert with HYPERMIX® syringe deep through the drilled holes.
- Soak a gauze of HYPERMIX®, insert it under the sole and bandage with Vetrap.
- Use HYPERMIX® at least once a day.
Time to resolution of the problem: 3 weeks
HOW TO USE IT
HYPERMIX®, because of its many qualities, fits right into equine podal management, especially as it pertains to the microbial management of the substrate on which equines stand in the stall for a long time, whether it be chip or rice husk. Droppings, no matter how well collected and no matter how well the stall may be cleaned each day, will mature and attack the horny matrix of the hooves making it necessary to have long-lasting prevention that does not harm the horse.
In this area, therefore, HYPERMIX® becomes a useful ally: its ease of use and available form make it quick and convenient to use, especially in wet seasons.
MODE OF USE
APPLYING, by brush, a light layer along the wall, from the crown to the tip, passing through the sole, secton, and glomi, will help create a protected environment by reducing the chances of woodworm disease occurring as the biocidal action will be emphasized.
In case this has already happened, applying the product especially on the fork and crown will promote its absorption and, thanks to the very high podal capillarization, it will first be absorbed and then transferred to the neighboring districts involved.
The oily formulation will also ensure, as on exudates and wounds, oxygenation of the hooves while also maintaining their ability to acquire moisture in order to keep the matrix elastic and hydrated.
- Remove the moth-eaten part with appropriate tools.
- Drill with appropriate conical drill on the entire wall (wall).
COMPLETE HEALING AFTER 3 WEEKS ON ADVANCED WOODWORM.
