Donkey - Bite Injury

Testimony by: Dr. Roberto Valli

Animal Category: Equine (donkey)

Pathology category: bite injury

Description: The subject was admitted with multiple injuries following stallion attack. After surgical cleansing and antibiotic therapy, daily dressing of HYPERMIX® GEL associated with HYPERMIX® GARZE is administered. The practice involves washing the wounds with physiological saline, removal of necrotic parts, application of the product and spinning vaseline around. There is evidence of rapid granulation tissue formation and re-epithelialization of the wounds and absence of infection. The donkey heals rapidly, but there remains a fistulous pathway originating from infection of a fractured rib.

Product used: HYPERMIX® oily format

Mode of application: 10 days of general antibiotic therapy and local dressing, then courrettage and start HYPERMIX® application at least once a day.

Time to resolution of the problem: 2 months

HOW TO USE IT

Some animals have more than one laceration, especially in bite wounds.
Traumatic bite wounds can easily be infested with fly larvae (miosis).
All types of lesions, including infested ones, can be treated daily with HYPERMIX®.

CLEAN with saline or mild soap and water (Marseille) and remove the necrosis.

The use of disinfectant is not recommended, as it is histolesive and retards the healing process.
To avoid self-inflicted trauma, animals that show doggedness on injuries are advised to be fitted with a protective collar.
At the discretion of the treating veterinarian, and depending on the severity and extent of wounds, administer systemic antibiotic therapy, according to practice.

APPLY HYPERMIX® in oily formulation during the acute phase: resolution of the inflammatory phase is achieved in 5±2 days.

Subsequently, in the granulation phase, HYPERMIX® in gel formulation is recommended to be used over the entire injured surface until complete resolution.

HYPERMIX® is undesirable to dipteran colonizing wounds, allowing them to be managed even during critical periods (summer season, poor sanitary conditions).

Horse - Summer Dermatitis

Testimony by: Rosario Guida, professor of Mascalcia 4th level

Animal Category: Equine (horse)

Pathology category: Summer dermatitis

Description: Summer dermatitis of the horse can be easily triggered by insect bites and stings and by contact with the saliva of midges. It affects horses of all breeds.
As a result of such bites or stings, allergic horses may develop a Type 1 hypersensitivity reaction, with release of histamine; the immediate consequence is itching, which the animal fights by rubbing itself, thus causing subsequent self-trauma that often degenerates into secondary skin infections. For this reason, in summer horses frequently appear restless, irritable and manifest weight loss from inappetence.

Product used: HYPERMIX® oily format

Mode of application:

Healing time: 30 days

  • The first seven days were sponging with HYPERMIX®, without washing or brushing the coat.
  • Instead, in the following days the horse was washed and dried well in the affected part and HYPERMIX® was applied.
  • After each application you exposed the horse to the sun (not during peak hours).
  • A total of 150 ml of HYPERMIX® was used.

Time frame for problem resolution:

HOW TO USE IT

Horse - Onychomycosis on thoroughbreds

Testimony by: Rosario Guida, teacher of Mascalcia 4th Level.

Animal Category: Equine (thoroughbred horse)

Disease category: Hoofworm (onychomycosis)

Description: Hoofworm indicates a hoof disease that causes the wall to become disconnected from the underlying tissues.

Product used: HYPERMIX® oily formulation

Mode of application:

  • Remove the moth-eaten part with appropriate tools.
  • Drill with appropriate conical tip until almost bleeding, all over the wall (wall).
  • Clean the sole especially on the white line from woodworm.
  • Insert with HYPERMIX® syringe deep through the drilled holes.
  • Soak a gauze of HYPERMIX®, insert it under the sole and bandage with Vetrap.
  • Use HYPERMIX® at least once a day.

Time to resolution of the problem: 3 weeks

HOW TO USE IT

HYPERMIX®, because of its many qualities, fits right into equine podal management, especially as it relates to the microbial management of the substrate on which equines stand in the stall for a long time, whether it be chip or rice husk. Droppings, no matter how well collected and no matter how well the stall may be cleaned each day, will mature and attack the horny matrix of the hooves making it necessary to have long-lasting prevention that does not harm the horse.

In this area, therefore, HYPERMIX® becomes a useful ally: its ease of use and available form make it quick and convenient to use, especially in wet seasons.

MODE OF USE

APPLYING, by brush, a light layer along the wall, from the crown to the toe, passing through the sole, secton, and glomi, will help create a protected environment by reducing the chances of woodworm disease occurring as the biocidal action will be emphasized.
In case this has already happened, applying the product especially on the fork and crown will promote its absorption and, due to the very high podal capillarization, it will first be absorbed and then transferred to the involved neighboring districts.
The oily formulation will also ensure, as on exudates and wounds, oxygenation of the hooves while also maintaining their ability to acquire moisture in order to keep the matrix elastic and hydrated.

  • Remove the moth-eaten part with appropriate tools.
  • Drill with appropriate conical drill on the entire wall (wall).

COMPLETE HEALING AFTER 3 WEEKS ON ADVANCED WOODWORM.

Application method: the wound was washed with lactated ringer once a day, medicated with Hypermix® oily formulation and bandaged. Only in the first few days, polyurethane sponges were used to absorb the exudate.

Time to resolution of the problem: 4 months

HOW TO USE IT

Some animals have more than one laceration, especially in bite wounds.
Traumatic bite wounds can easily be infested with fly larvae (miosis).
All types of lesions, including infested ones, can be treated daily with HYPERMIX®

Horse Selle Francais "Eduardo" - Trauma to the forelimb glomus

Testimony by: Dr. Laura Grassi dr.laura.grassi@gmail.com

Animal category: equine

Pathology category: traumatic injury

Description: forelimb glomus trauma - Selle Francais horse - 5-year-old gelding ""Eduardo""

Mode of application: Application of Hypermix® oily formulation, initially twice a day, then once for about a month and thereafter every other day and only on the periphery of the lesion, so as not to over-stimulate the exuberantly growing central part. After the last checkup, which was done a month ago, I found some soreness in the foot. X-rays showed some soft tissue thickening at the traumatized area, probably indicative of inflammation and mild infection. I prescribed compresses with Animal Intex, which helped considerably. Returned to normalcy and work after three months.

Resolution time: about 3 months

8-month-old male quarter - Bruised lacerated wound

Testimony of: Michele Dr. Di Paolo (Torretta, Larino (CB))

Animal category: equine

Pathology category: lacerated-contact wound.

Description: The subject had a fairly extensive lacerated wound with hanging skin flap at the level of the left thigh. The day after surgery, the foal bit itself by tearing part of the skin suture (about half from bottom to top) of the mid-lateral portion of the arm. The deep sutures, in contrast, held up to the self-trauma. After 7 days, at follow-up, the necrotic tissue was removed, including the always necrotic parts pertaining to muscle, laciniae of tissue that were not well compressed in suture and therefore dead. Very light curettage was done. From this point on, Hypermix® was started. Complete healing was achieved in about 70 days because of the damage, and because of the subject's young age.

Mode of application: daily application.

Resolution time: 70 days.
